She only released her debut album earlier this year but Odette is not showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon. On the back of supporting The Cat Empire, completing a massive sold out headlining tour, and attending her first Aria Awards, she has decided to surprise drop a new single. ‘A Place That I Don’t Know’ is a reflective heartbreak track that hears her teaming up with 2017 Triple J Unearthed High winner Gretta Ray for this soulful duet. Looking back on the downfall of a relationship she reacquaints herself with her own body and self belief in the aftermath of everything. The two singer-songwriters harmonically glide off each other’s vocals as they soothingly give you slick and emotional vibes. “It’s a mess I didn’t make but still it hurts me so. I yearn for you but oh my love you have to go. You made this home a place that I don’t know”. The raw emotive honestly that shines through this track is beautiful and whilst the production is quite minimalistic they elevate the piano delivery with soaring strings. It has a very cinematic approach to it which makes you imagine hearing this track in the credit of a feature film. It’s just a nice and mature song that serves as a nice little extra thank you to her fans for a massive year.
