Woodes is an artist whose cinematic inclined sonical landscape has continually evolved over time. As she heads into the release of her debut album in early 2020, she wants to grow and expand her artistry even further. Inspired by everything that is happening around her, these honest narratives reflect on personal relationships, thoughts and social observations as she tries to navigate her way through life. 

Her bouncy new single ‘Silent Disco’ is a perfect representation of that openness to inspiration as it draws from a boutique festival experience that saw her watching a silent disco from the outside looking in. Watching these people in secluded unison and in their own moment while everything else was happening around her really struck a cord with her. And from that she decided she wanted to write a song that not only reflected on the cultural phenomenon but also sonically fitted the aesthetic. 

Teaming up with Touch Sensitive, she was able to create a sound that further explored her cinematic alternative-pop sound and added in disco-pop elements. With the pulsating synths and groovy guitar riff, it really is so different to anything else she’s released but it works so well. In hindsight it has a retrospective attitude and warmth to it but there is a modern influence that makes it relevant and fit.
