SINGLE REVIEW: UPSAHL – WET WHITE TEE SHIRT (SIDE A) & SICK PRETTY MIND (SIDE B)

UPSAHL is back with Volume Two of her “PHX TAPES” project which sees her dropping an “A Side” and a “B Side” every month. Last month she got wild with “GOOD GIRL ERA” and reflective on “CONDOMS”, and she’s ready to turn the heat up with the next two tracks that are going to soundtrack your June.

“WET WHITE TEE SHIRT (SIDE A)” kicks off where “GOOD GIRL ERA” left off and takes you straight to the club dancefloor of the late 90’s and early 2000’s with a thumping bass and seductive lyrics. This track is sexy as fuck, and she doesn’t hold back one bit. Co-written with Justin Tranter, they find a wit that they perfect intertwine with this story of seduction. “I see you growing fast, call the priest, you are possessed. No, you ain’t gonna last, if you keep eye-fucking my breasts” she cheekily sings during the first verse. It immediately feels like a classic UPSAHL track, and one that will be absolutely electric and ridiculously good in her live show with its hard bass like “Sad Sorry After Party”.

“SICK PRETTY MIND (SIDE B)” takes things in a more experimental direction. Sonically reminiscent of CXLOE during the verses and Billie Eilish in the chorus, it’s a song that has a thumping bass with a different perspective. It’s grittier than its predecessor, and has a darker lyrical reflection. And she even gives you a little golden nugget UPSAHL lyrical moment with “Don’t bring out my feelings, that’s my way of dealing”. An instant classic lyric of hers.
