SINGLE REVIEW: Lime Cordiale – Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome is something we all deal with, and the more successful you get in your own area the worst it becomes. Even with the sold out tours, ARIA nominations, and heavy acclaim, it’s something that Lime Cordiale are finding themselves dealing with more than ever before. To try and find some perspective and understanding to this strange feeling, the pop-rock favourites have penned an addictive earworm for all of us to embrace and relate to.

“Imposter Syndrome” is Lime Cordiale’s first single of the year, and it ushers in what feels like a strong beginning to a new chapter. Sonically continuing the evolution of their 2020 record “14 Steps To A Better You” with some slight The Jungle Giants production references also thrown into the mix, this track finds a familiarity while also experimenting with the future of Lime Coridale.

Bringing some honest truths to their songwriting the open the track with the reflection; “I paid a visit to my therapist. I say my problems, he gets paid. He tells me that it’s all irrelevant “Just do like I do, smile and wave””. From there the song further explores the complexities of the feelings, and the honest lows you experience; “I’m living with imposter syndrome. I’m just a colossal freak show. Lucky you see me through frosted windows. A layer of makeup that I just can’t take off”.

Tied together with a classic Lime Cordiale polish, “Imposter Syndrome” is an instant classic. It’s catchy and anthemic, while still holding onto their laidback quality that always feels so natural.
