Troye Sivan has just dropped what may just be one of the catchiest songs of 2023. “Rush” is the lead single from his forthcoming highly anticipated third studio album “Something To Give Each Other” which will be released on October 13, and it’s a song that will never leave your head. Ever. The infectious refrain immediately blasts its way through your ears during the opening echoing and proudly bursts through big euphoric choruses throughout.
“Rush” feels like a queer celebration of love, sex, emotions, and positivity. It’s been meticulously produced to give the listener enough serotonin that they put it on repeat, and keep wanting to feel (excuse the pun) the rush over and over again that the song delivers. It’s also been made to be embraced with open arms from clubs. It’s the perfect soundtrack to a night out with its easy refrain, to the big dance-production that takes over that will hit you right in the chest.
The liberating track is all about expression. Inspired by a chapter in Troye’s life that saw him feeling the most confident he’s ever felt, he explores the encounters of kissing a stranger on a dance floor, and the different rendezvous’ you have with someone in a short amount of time during the initial period of lust. “Big communication, tell me what you want. Translate your vibration, let your body talk to me” he sings during the opening moments of the song which perfectly sets the tone.
“Rush” is an anthem. It’s a song that is going to takeover the pop music field for the rest of the year, and deservingly so. It’s an immaculate pop song that just keeps getting better with every listen.
