LIVE REVIEW: BANKS – Enmore Theatre

BANKS has just come and delivered one of my favourite live shows I’ve seen in 2025 with the spectacular “Off With Her Head Tour”. Packing out the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, she delivered a show that felt like the culmination of her career to date. BANKS is a performer who has always delivered a moody and visually striking live show that has mixed her vulnerable storytelling with movement and theatrical elements. But this new show felt like she has finally mastered what she initially set out to do, and after seeing her live a couple of times throughout her career I can confidently say I’ve never seen her like this before.

With moody lighting set across the stage, four dancers emerged holding masks before BANKS arrived at the top of the stage structure for the dramatic “Guillotine” which was choreographed so tightly. Seamlessly transitioning into “Love Is Unkind”, she then treated fans with older favourites “Fuck With Myself” and “Gemini Feed” which were sung loudly from the excited crowd. The show moved between highly choreographed moments with the four dancers like “Stay”, “Direction” and my favourite off her new album “Delulu”, alongside more stripped back intimate moments with just her like “Meddle In The Mold”, and “Someone New” which she sat down at the piano for.

“Drowning” and “Waiting Game” had two of the most stunning performances of the night with the mixture of lighting and choreography complimenting them so perfectly. “River” was an unexpected moment, while “Beggin For Thread” was THE moment of the night we expected, and “I Hate Your Ex-Girlfriend” closed out the show with her and the dancers throwing out roses to the crowd.

At only 70 minutes long, this short show left some fans wanting more with five albums of material that she could play from, but honestly… the show was so perfect as a piece of visual art and performance that I was okay with the short duration. She mesmerised the audience from the moment she walked on stage to the moment she said goodnight, and delivered a show I’m going to be thinking about for a long time to come. And THAT is the power of music and live performance.
