Slayyyter is an artist who is truly having her moment right now. With her WOR$T GIRL IN THE WORLD TOUR touching down in Australia, she’s cemented that she is one of the most exciting pop artists right now with a sold out run of dates backed by one of the most passionate fanbases. This is a project that has been driven by the love from the fans since the very beginning, which this show and album wouldn’t have happened otherwise. 

Night one of the sold out tour saw her taking over the iconic Enmore Theatre in Sydney. With the crowd packing in early for 2charm’s support set, they were treated to a very gay dance-pop set full of choreographed dance moves, kissing, sweaty shirtlessness, and great pop melodies, including released and unreleased music produced by Ninajirachi. With their debut album “star scum city” released earlier this year, this is an act who are only getting started, and the dominant stage presence they already command is unparalleled. 

By the time Slayyyter arrived on to the stage, the back curtain dropped to reveal the house setup she has been trekking around on her global festival run of dates. Walking out of the house’s front door she donned a “WORST GIRL IN AUSTRALIA” cap and went straight into “DANCE…”. Immediately the crowd were jumping, and screaming along, and by the time “CRANK” came around the venue was shaking in a way I’ve never felt at the Enmore Theatre before. It felt like the balcony was going to collapse, and that didn’t stop anyone from going hard all night. 

One of the most impressive parts of this show was that she only performed her newest album WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA along with some unreleased material. She brought the audience into the world of this record with its grungy and trashy rock aesthetic that was brought to life by her live band that accompanied her. But she also held her own incredibly well and had you in absolute awe whilst she captivated the crowd and growled and screamed. 

“CANNIBALISM!” saw her getting up on the carousel horse that sat on the stage, while “$T. LOSER” and “BRITTANY MURPHY” felt like true highlights in the show. Closing out with “brand new chanel$” and “BEAT UP CHANEL$”, a bubble machine filled the stage with bubbles while the venue shook again from the crowd eating up the electric performance. I feel like the phrase about an artist giving a masterclass with their live show gets thrown around, but this show was the epitome of that. If you walked in as a superfan, or walked in impartial, you definitely all walked out being in love with Slayyyter and raving about how special that show was.
